Trunk of the Yule – Another Great REcipe from Alexander!

My friend Alexander gave me such a great guest post, that i felt i needed to accept another from him! His site is mostly about wiccan spells, but he has some great recipes too. You can check out his blog for more information if you like.

This is a spell for wiccans that enjoy cakes. It is called the Trunk of the Yule.

The trunk of Yule is a typical cake in many regions, which means it is used by witches all over the world. It is customary to perform for winter celebrations and is often used by witches that need to cast spells in the dead of the winter.

Ingredients:

For the sponge cake:

4 whole eggs.
2 egg yolks.
80 gr. of sugar.
Rind of ½ lemon.
80 gr. of flour.
For the filling:

400 gr. of chocolate to melt.
250 gr. of butter.
150 gr. of sugar.
1 spoonful of white rum.
some nuts.
Preparation:

Beat the egg yolks with the sugar and lemon until creamy. Add flour. Beat the egg whites until stiff and mix carefully. Place aluminium foil on the baking tray and spread the dough in a rectangular shape, bake in the oven for 15 minutes at 200 º C. Remove the foil and roll up the cake template with a cloth. Leave to cool. Melt the chocolate in a bain-marie, set aside. Beat the butter with the sugar, add the rum and join with the chocolate. Unroll the cake, cover with the chocolate cream reserving a little to decorate. Roll up again and cover with a layer of chocolate. Make some decorations with a fork and place the cherries adorning it. Place in the refrigerator until serving time.
